Doctors have found a new way of giving middle-aged men the kind of sex life they had back in their 20s. At an international conference in London they reveal that testosterone restores libido and can act as an impotence cure for 95% of men who are going throught the male menopause, also known as andropause.

  The claims are based on a study of 1,000 men aged over forty. The study revealed that testosterone alone increased sexual desire in the men by 69%. It also improved the ability of men to have an erection in 65% of cases.

  The male menopause usually strikes men over the age of 40. Its symptoms are very similar to those endured by a woman, including loss of sex drive, depression, headaches, anxiety and even osteoporosis.

  Not only does testosterone improve sexual desire in men, it is also now thought to strengthen bones and muscles, and even help reduce a beer gut.

  "The view now is that testosterone for men has many of the benefits of HRT for women" said Dr Malcom Carruthers.
